shakespeare

have i mentioned how much i love st louis?

this has been a work in progress; i used to spend my thoughts on far off cities...extravagant adventures...convincing myself that if i only lived somewhere else, life would be more interesting.

friends!! this is such a lie. there is so much good right where you are. whether it be a small town, a suburb, or a bustling city, there is adventure and beauty all around. all you have to do is uncover it.

my latest st louis discovery came through my dear friend, matt. he invited me to see "shakespeare in the park". apparently, a group of professional performers spend 2 weeks putting on a shakespeare show for free in forest park. but the catch is that the set & characters are based in the 1950s.....

first of all, before even making my way to the show, i stepped out of my car and was reminded of how much i love forest park in the summer. people reading on blankets, kids playing in the fountains, music coming from some distant location, laughter, paddle boats, slack-lining, & picnics....i am absolutely in love. here is a photo of the world pavillion.....the play was right across the road from this....

the play was to die for. it was shakespeares "taming of the shrew". the actors were unbelievably funny, and one of them looked (and acted) EXACTLY like jimmy fallon. i was completely, 100% entertained & content. the show is running through this sunday, and i would give my recommendation to anyone. its such a feeling of community and culture; i feel cheesy saying it, but you just feel like part of something special by being there experiencing it with a group of strangers. youre all connected, if just for one evening, and its an incredible thing.

what treasures have you all been uncovering in your areas?
